From the foundation to the observation platform

The interior workings of the Television Tower are normally hidden from view to most of its visitors and can only be seen during a guided tour. It lasts about 45 minutes.

 

The tour starts off a few metres below ground level in the Television Tower's conical foundation. Here you'll be told about the impressive construction of the Tower, its origins and design, before returning to the foyer. From there here you'll climb the first 8 metres of the stairway in the tower shaft.

 

The elevator will then take you up to a height of 75 metres. At this height the tapering shape of the tower  shaft is clearly recognisable. After inspecting the tower shaft, the elevater takes us up to a height of 138 metres, where you can explore the bottom floor of the tower pod. The guided tour finally ends at a height of 150 metres on the observation platform with its breathtaking views.

 

After the tour you'll have plenty of time to enjoy the views over the city of Stuttgart and the fantastic panoramas, and perhaps recognise some of the buildings from a completely new, bird's-eye perpective. In good visibility you can see as far as the Black Forest and the Swabian Alb.

After-work tours

For those who have always wanted to explore the interior workings of the world's first television tower, after-work tours have been available each Thursday at 6 pm.

The special feature of these tour ist that they are intended in particular for impromptu visits and do not require a group reservation. Vou're welcome to book in advance, but this is not compulsory. The number of participants per tour is limited to 15. If required, an additional tour will be provided at 7 pm.

The admission charge of 15 euros includes a 45-minute guided tour, the ascent to the observation platform and a drink in the "OBEN" café/bar, 147 metres above ground level.
